THIS WEEKS PREVIEW

The Cobbydalers face a double header in the next week, meeting the top two teams in the table. First is City of Liverpool FC in the quarter-finals of the Macron Cup.  The cup-tie ensures that the First Division will be represented in the semi-finals, with the two other representatives from the division playing Premier League teams. Then next week the Cobbydalers face Litherland REMYCA at the Cobbydalers’ Construction Stadium for a league game.

As the table stands, Litherland are on top of the table with 70points from 33 games, with City of Liverpool second with 67 points from 32 games. However the latter have a superior goal difference of 55 compared with Litherland’s 39.

The Cobbydalers lost two-nil in the home league game against City. However, in the recent away game, they took the lead but conceded two in the second half. Saturday’s game kicks off at 2.00pm and fans are asked to get down early as City are expected to bring a lot of fans, two coaches will arrive early!

The game is an opportunity for the Cobbydalers to get closer to some silverware, although it will be a tough task. However, recent wins against Chadderton, St. Helens Town and Alsager Town have given Danny Forrest’s boys a fillip.  Forrest’s team have been boosted by the recent additions of Danny Illingworth and Danny Bunch.

It also also gives the Cobbydalers fans the opportunity to congratulate Matthew Moses who played his 200th game against Chadderton and also to witness the new naming of the ground: THE COBBYDALE CONSTRUCTION STADIUM. Cobbydale Construction have been responsible for the recent work at the ground, including the 1904 Suite, outside toilets, repairs to the 1934 Stand and the walkways.

Before the cup game there will be an Under 6’s warm up game, emphasising the wide nature of the Silsden club. Everyone at the Silsden Club is looking forward to the game on Saturday, not just for the football but for the atmosphere, which in the previous two encounters has been terrific.
